Dr Mohsen Hashemi
Mathematician, teacher, author and Olympiad coach with experience across university mathematics, high-school teaching and advanced competition preparation.
Teaching mathematics beyond formulas
Since beginning my master’s studies at Massey University in 2015, I have taught a range of university-level mathematics courses. Before moving to New Zealand, I spent more than 16 years in Iran preparing high-school students for the International Mathematical Olympiad.
My aim is to help students become independent mathematical thinkers. That means understanding ideas deeply, recognising structure, trying more than one approach and learning to communicate a complete solution.

Taught advanced calculus, geometry and combinatorics in an Olympiad programme for gifted high-school students.

Senior Teacher for the New Zealand Mathematical Olympiad national team.
Results & recognition
A record built around high expectations
My students in Iran achieved strong results, including three consecutive best average scores in the national calculus exam and three first-place finishes in the national university entrance examination.
